Cleveland has a Great Lakes shipping history that took off after the building of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1957. Cleveland Lakefront, today known as North Coast, was dug out of landfill in 1986-87 and is home to the Cleveland Browns Stadium, Great Lakes Science Center, SS William G Mather steamship, USS Cod submarine and. Voinovich Park. Even larger scale development is proposed for the future.

Characters you may meet along the tour: Coach Paul Brown and Captain William Mooney

Cleveland’s North Coast is where the city meets the lake in Downtown Cleveland. Waterfront vista, public spaces like Voinovich Bicentennial park and endless activities set the stage for memorable events and everyday fun. The district is also home to world-class venues, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center and Cleveland Browns Stadium.  We are proud to partner with Take a Hike and hope you enjoy hearing about Cleveland’s lakefront – past, present and future.
