FAQ

We do ask for a courtesy call if you are a part of a group of 10 or more guests on the tour. This is to prepare our guides for larger size groups and reach out to volunteers if necessary. Less than 10, please feel free to attend without calling ahead of time.

Each tour will begin promptly at its designated start time. Please arrive approximately 5-10 minutes early to complete a brief registration and to obtain a Take a Hike sticker. Allow additional time for parking, as well.

When should I arrive?

Take a Hike is an entertaining and educational opportunity to learn about the history, culture and future plans of each tour area. Geared towards adults, the tours also offer younger audience members the chance to explore Cleveland in a whole new way.

Can I schedule a private group tour?

If you are interested in making special arrangements for a private group tour, please contact Susie Turek.  Private tours are offered for groups of any size (up to 40),  and last approximately one and a half hours in exchange for a donation of $300 to Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation depending on tour guide availability. Your donation will assist in providing payment to the actors and guides involved.

Throughout each tour you will walk no more than 2 miles total, with periodic stopping at various destinations. Please feel encouraged to take any breaks as necessary. If you anticipate needing to stop mid-tour, you are welcome to rejoin the group at any point.

Approximately how many miles will I walk per tour?

Our tour guides welcome families to join us on Take a Hike, however the information tends to be of more interest to adults. Each neighborhood and guide gladly welcomes dogs! We even have a special treat for our furry friends that join the tour.
