Take a Hike®
A Program of the Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation
Take a Hike®, presented by Dollar Bank, offers six free guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood, Canal Basin Park in the Flats, and University Circle. Our 2019 tour season opens on May 14 and concludes on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. More than 33,000 people have enjoyed “taking a hike” to date.
Keep in mind, “taking a hike” is more like taking a leisurely stroll. Take a Hike® is supported by area residents through Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. The tours also receive generous support from Ohio & Erie Canalway Association, Downtown Cleveland Alliance and other community partners who value our educational and entertaining program!
The parking meters downtown are free on Saturdays and Sundays. They are also free after 6 PM on weekdays. Please read all parking-related signage on streets carefully to avoid getting parking tickets, especially in construction areas.
Did someone go above and beyond to make your Downtown Cleveland experience phenomenal? Consider nominating a member of the Hospitality Community (tour guide, restaurant server, hotel staff, etc.) for a Destination Cleveland Hospitality Star Award. The nomination form can be found here.
